Product and Market Alignment
An outside read on whether your product, your positioning, and the buyer you think you have are actually the same thing. Private, project-based, and delivered by people who spend the year listening to the buyers you are trying to reach.
When this is worth doing
- Win/loss notes keep saying price, and you suspect something else is going on underneath.
- Sales and product hold different pictures of the buyer, and both are working from real experience.
- You are moving into a category you have not competed in before.
- You are raising, and your market assumptions are about to be examined closely by people who do this for a living.
- Your positioning has served you well and the market has moved since you wrote it.
The lens we run it through
Alignment work is only as good as the perspective behind it. Ours comes from two published frameworks and the ongoing buyer research underneath them.
B.R.I.D.G.E.
The six gates every HR technology purchase moves through. It gives us a structured way to look at your product the way a buyer actually does, rather than feature by feature.
The Five Workforces
How organizations absorb AI agents, from the Free-for-All through to the Autonomous. It tells us which stage your product serves today, and which stage your buyers are actually in.
Both are published in full, free to read, and used directly by HR practitioners. That matters here: we are not applying a private methodology to your business, we are showing you the same lens your buyers are being handed. More on how the frameworks apply to go-to-market.
Alignments
Deeper engagements that assess where you actually stand and hand you a prioritized list of what to do about it. Every one ends with a preliminary results session and a delivery session, because findings you cannot argue with in a room are findings nobody acts on.
Internal alignment
- Build consensus around goals, ICP, and who your competitors really are, using the B.R.I.D.G.E. gates as shared vocabulary for where deals actually move
- Surface innovation opportunities and risks that have not yet been named out loud
- Find the silos and gaps quietly costing you go-to-market, product, and customer success momentum
Product alignment
- Comparative analysis of you and up to five competitors, read through the six B.R.I.D.G.E. gates rather than a feature matrix — so you can see where in the buying journey a prospect would hesitate
- Validation of the ICP and competitive intel work you have already done, with corrections
- Product-market fit assessment run through your demo and marketing presentation to find gaps and genuine differentiation
- A prioritized list of recommendations
Market alignment
- Your positioning, category selection, and messaging assessed against market trends and what buyers actually expect
- Validation of ICP, competitive performance, and go-to-market strategy
- Market trend analysis to find room for differentiation, including where your buyers sit on the Five Workforces and what that means for the story you tell them
- Recommendations for closing the gap between what you have built and where demand is moving
Strategic alignment
The full review, for when the question is bigger than product or market alone.
- ICP, positioning, category selection, demo performance, sales decks, analyst decks, and messaging, assessed against research, buyer expectations, and what the product actually does today
- Competitive review extended to ten competitors, with both frameworks applied end to end
- Internal alignment assessment included
- Choose a product deep dive or a market deep dive as the center of gravity
Startup alignment
A compressed version built for the weeks either side of a raise.
- Strategic review of ICP, positioning, category fit, demo, and narrative consistency
- Your product reviewed through a buyer’s lens for clarity and appeal
- Comparative review against three to five competitors
- Top differentiation opportunities and the market risks an investor will find
- Optional investor-ready one-page summary
Validations
Tighter, faster engagements when you have a specific question rather than a general unease.
Strategy validation
Confirm target market, ICP, and product-market fit. Validate category, positioning, go-to-market, and your read of the competitive landscape.
Product validation
Identify the market need, validate a feature or product vision, map the landscape. Focus groups or user interviews can be added.
Product marketing workshop
A two-hour working session plus follow-up on one topic: PMM, buyer insights, event selection, launches, or analyst relations.
Buyer journey review
How buyers actually experience your website, content, and sales motion, mapped against the six B.R.I.D.G.E. gates, with deck and demo review and candid feedback.
Two things worth knowing about how we work
We do not need your data. This work is done without access to your customer data or client lists. Everything comes from our own buyer research and from public information about your competitors.
It stays private. An alignment never becomes published research about you, and nothing in it travels to a competitor. It is also not purchasable placement — a good alignment result does not get you into a landscape guide. Full policy.
Questions before you scope one
How is this different from hiring a consultant?
Consultants do excellent work in this space, and many of them build from what your own team knows. We start from original research with the buyers you are trying to reach, and we read what we find through two published frameworks: B.R.I.D.G.E. for how HR teams buy technology, and the Five Workforces for how they are absorbing AI agents. What we bring is a view from outside the building, structured the same way your buyers are being taught to think.
What do we actually receive?
Findings and a prioritized recommendation list, delivered live in a preliminary session and then a full delivery session. The sessions matter more than the document — the point is to get your team arguing with real data in the same room.
Do you need access to our customers or CRM?
No. We run this without your data or client lists. If a scope would genuinely benefit from talking to your customers we will propose it explicitly as focus groups or interviews, and you decide.
How long does an alignment take?
Weeks rather than months, depending on scope and how many competitors are in it. The pacing constraint is usually your team’s availability for the sessions, not our analysis.
We are pre-investment. Is this useful or premature?
It is one of the more common reasons people call. The startup alignment exists specifically for that window and includes an optional investor-ready summary. Far better to pressure-test the market story on your own terms, ahead of the room.
Will you tell us something we do not want to hear?
Sometimes, and we will do it constructively and with the evidence in front of us. The aim is never to be provocative — it is to hand you a clear enough picture that the next decision gets easier.
Does an alignment influence how you write about us publicly?
No, in both directions. It does not earn you favorable coverage, and a rough alignment result does not damage your standing in published research. The private and published sides of our work do not cross.
Scope an alignment
Bring the question you cannot answer from inside the building. We will tell you which engagement actually fits it.
